FRANKLIN COUNTY, Idaho — Sydney's Place restaurant is permanently closing its doors this week, with the final day of business set for Saturday.
Denise Hardy, the owner of Sydney's Place, announced the closure with a "heavy heart," citing inconsistent business that made it difficult to maintain a living and provide for her family, which includes a son with special needs.
The restaurant is named after Denise's mother, who passed away. The Hardy family moved to Preston from Mantua for better services for their autistic son and opened Sydney's Place in Preston in 2024.
Hardy wrote on the restaurant's Facebook page, "Unfortunately, business is not consistent enough for me to make a living. While I still can, I need to do a better job of contributing to my family."
The owner expressed gratitude to her staff, husband, children, and the community for their support over the years. She encouraged patrons to visit the restaurant this week for a final meal and to say goodbye.

[sad]. 😢 the saddest part is someone let her open a business up there last year, knowing that the other steakhouses that were there before failed. I think the community failed this woman by not warning her and think of the money that she lost. This happens all the time and someone else will end up moving to Preston and try to open a restaurant in the same location and none of the locals will tell them it’s not a good idea.
