Tiny home

LOGAN - USA Project Valor, an organization which works with homeless veterans, is trying to help a couple of unhoused veterans, one living in his car and the other living in his truck.

Michael Fortune is a member of the organization and he is trying to find some money to help with housing the two individuals.

“With the government shutdown affecting funding sources and with Veterans Day approaching, I think this is a meaningful opportunity to highlight the immediate needs of local veterans,” he said. “We want to and encourage the community to support them.”

Some people reached out to USA Project Valor people a few days ago and informed them about one of the veterans.

“We have spent all of our resources getting one of them a place to stay, but we need more funds to keep him there a while longer.”

USA Project Valor has built a few tiny homes for veterans who had no place to live, Fortune added.

“We plan to build more but the federal government shut down effects the Bear River Association of Government’s money. We used all the funds we had to help the one,” he said. “We contacted Bear River Association of Governments, but we don’t know if or when they can help.”

Fortune said he has been in contact with the Rocky Mountain Veterans Center and the Veterans Fellowship in Ogden to see what they can do to help.

“We focus on the housing part of helping veterans,” he said. “There are other organizations helping with other needs veterans have.”

Fortune is hoping they can get some funding to cover a week or two of the housing cost until they can come up with a more permanent solution.

“I have put them up in a hotel, but we are running out of funds,” he said. “The government shutdown is making things difficult.”

USA Project Valor has a website that will accept donations. The website is usaprojectvalor.org and they have a button on their website where people can donate. The site lets people know they are a legitimate 501-3c.

I sure hope this advertisement helps. I will be donating for sure. It’s unfortunate that a private citizen previously donated wages to active military members so they can pay their bills and feed their families because of the government shut down during Trumps administration. This isn’t the first time, it’s a second but this time Trump shattered his previous record. That breaks my heart for our military who risk their lives for our freedoms. I will definitely support this program.
