LOGAN – The Valley Actors Club will present the comedy The Foreigner by Larry Shue at the LionHeart Hall at 7:30 p.m. from June 4 to 7.

The hilarious 1984 two-act comedy centers on a very shy British bloke named Charlie who is stranded at a guest lodge in Georgia, according to Morgan Nadauld, the show’s director.

While pretending that he can’t speak English, Charlie mistakenly becomes aware of all the dark secrets and schemes brewing beneath the veneer of southern charm maintained by the lodge’s other residents.

The production at LionHeart Hall will feature the well-known local performer Daniel Francis as Charlie and Marianne Sidwell as Betty Meeks, the lodge’s owner who is delighted to be hosting a real-live foreigner.

Since its debut, Shue’s play has been a staple of American regional theaters and is equally familiar to Cache Valley audiences, having been performed here during the Lyric Repertory Company’s 2009 and 2017 summer seasons.

The Valley Actors Club was founded in 2023 with the goal of organizing the immense pool of talent in Cache Valley for the purpose of creating and supporting high-quality theater and film pieces.

By focusing its production efforts on small-cast shows with simple sets, the club’s members plan to highlight the amazing art of acting and the impact it can have on the local community.
