LOGAN – City officials here are warning Logan residents that daytime temperatures are forecasted to be in the 90’s this weekend and advising them of ways to beat the heat under those circumstance.
The message from city officials is to “stay cool, stay hydrated and keep informed” over the upcoming weekend and throughout the summer.
Logan officials advise those warning are particularly appropriate for older residents over 65 years of age; children under 4 years of age; people with existing medical conditions; and those without access to air conditioning.
According to data from the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, a total of 47 people died of heat-related illnesses in Utah between 2019 and 2024.
Those fatalities included at least four hikers who succumbed to the heat-related deaths in Utah national parks during 2024.
The most common heat-related causes of death were hyperthermia (heat stroke) and dehydration.
Here in Cache Valley, local officials advise anyone in those high-risk categories should avoid direct sunlight; wear light-weight, light-colored clothing; cool their residences by using air conditioning or fans; and take cool showers or baths.
In order to stay hydrated, residents should proactively drink water, not just when they’re thirsty; drink more water than usual; and avoid alcohol or liquids containing large amounts of sugar, like energy drinks.
City officials are also advising residents to stay informed about weather conditions by downloading a weather app or by going online to the Logan City Emergency Operations Center webpage at
