HYDE PARK — A new portion of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail will be unveiled this Saturday in Hyde Park with a free event including a breakfast, fun run and ribbon cutting ceremony.

The newest portion of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail spans nearly three miles near the mouth of Hyde Park Canyon.

This 2.85 mile trail project was made possible by the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation's Utah Outdoor Recreation Grant, the Cache County RAPZ tax, and a partnership between Hyde Park city and a private landowner.

Hyde Park will host "Breakfast at the BST" at the mouth of Hyde Park Canyon to celebrate the grand opening of the trail on Aug. 3 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The free public event will include a fun run, breakfast, ribbon-cutting ceremony, raffle, and informational tables from local outdoor recreation groups.

Parking in the canyon will be restricted beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Cache Valley Transit District will provide a shuttle bus service from City Hall located at 113 E. Center Street in Hyde Park to the canyon.

Future expansion of the trail is in the works with Hyde Park collaborating with Trails Cache, North Logan, and Smithfield cities. The group has been awarded $50,000 from the RAPZ tax for a trail alignment study. It's currently looking for proposals from qualified engineering firms and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.
