SMITHFIELD – The Four Season Theatre Company here has announced the cast of its upcoming holiday production of A Christmas Story.

The 2012 musical is loosely based the 1983 film of the same name, which was taken from semi-fictional anecdotes by humorist Jean Shepherd in his comic collections entitled In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash and Wanda Hickey’s Night of Golden Memories and Other Disasters.

Set in Indiana in December of 1940, A Christmas Story follows the trials and tribulations of young Ralphie Parker as he struggles to be worthy of the ultimate Christmas gift – a Red Ryder Carbine Action BB Gun – while struggling with a semi-neurotic father and an over-protective mother.

The Parker family in the Four Seasons production will be led by local audience favorite Stanton Allen in the role of the “Old Man,” who has a colorful vocabulary and an obsession with his “major award” from a mysterious vendor.

Like all the other adults in A Christmas Story, Danilia Trisollini in the role of Ralphie’s long-suffering “Mother” puts the kabash on her son’s dream gift, warning that “…you’ll shoot your eye out.”

Rebuffed at every turn with a similar echoing response, Ralphie plots numerous schemes to achieve his desperate desire for the coveted BB gun.

All the iconic scenes from the original movie are in this stage adaptation, including Ralphie's friend, Flick, getting his tongue stuck to the flagpole; his brother, Randy, getting dressed in his snowsuit; the bullies Farkus and Dill; the leg lamp award; the bunny suit; a Chinese Christmas dinner; and many others.

Young Derek Geddes will portray Ralphie, while Ruel Parry will fill the shoes of his brother Randy.

Other named members of the cast will include Haven Draper, Henry Allen, Nixon Thedell, Abe Higginbotham, Paige Smith, Bailee Denton, Eleanor Hunsaker, Lilah Boehme, Klydi Heywood and James Jenkins.

The youth ensemble will feature Hadlee Jenkins, Reggie Boman and Ryan Floyd.

Members of the adult ensemble will include Dustin Hayward, Bennett Floyd, Rob Hendricks, Keith Carson, Rybeckah Tyler, Sarah Bast, Olivia Hunsaker, Kim Day and Kim Rash.

As he did in 2023, Kody Rash will direct this reprise production of A Christmas Story. Other members of the production team for the holiday musical includes Jennifer Bohman as music director and Melisa Jensen and Katie Packard arranging choreography.

A Christmas Story will be staged Dec. 4 through 13 at Sky View High School in Smithfield.

Tickets for the upcoming production can be purchased by going online to www.fourseasonstheatre.org/box-office/

Sky View High School is located at 529 South, 250 East in Smithfield.
